Recipe's preparation
- First roast or barbq the red peppers and remove the skins, seeds, stalks and membranes. Leave them to cool in a covered bowl before peeling.
- Toast the nuts in a dry pan in the oven. You can also toast the bread at the same time for fresh breadcrumbs.
- Chop the garlic by dropping it onto the blades spinning at speed 10. This takes a couple of seconds.
- Add the nuts to the bowl and chop at speed 6 for about 6 seconds.
- Add the rest of the ingredients. Chop at Speed 7 for about 10 seconds. The texture should be rough, not smooth.
- Taste and adjust seasoning, heat by adding a small amount of hot chilli powder if you like - no more than 1/4 teaspoon. Mix again for a few seconds.
- Serve as a dip or pasta sauce or to go with grilled fish or chicken.
