Chicken Chasni

  • 800 g chicken breast fillets, skinless
  • 200 g onions
  • 40 g butter, unsalted
  • 1 tsp salt, fine
  • 0.25 tsp chilli powder, mild spicey
  • 1 tsp turmeric, dried, ground
  • 200 g mango chutney
  • 225 g Tomato ketchup
  • 400 g single cream
  • 0.5 tsp fresh mint
  • 1 --- lemon, 1 whole lemon squeezed
  • 1 tsp Red food colouring, optional

    Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

Recipe's preparation

    Chicken Chasni
  1. Closed lid 200g onions, cut in halves
  2. Insert measuring cup into mixing bowl lid then...
  3. Turn speed selector to speed 5 for 5 seconds
  4. Scrape down sides of mixing bowl using spatula
  5. Closed lid add 40g of butter
  6. without measuring cup...
  7. Turn speed selector to speed 1 with temp of 120oC for 5 minutes
  8. Closed lid add 0.25 tsp of chilli powder, 1 tsp of turmeric and 1 tsp salt
  9. Gentle stir setting Turn speed selector to speed 1 for 45 seconds
  10. Chop the chicken fillets into bite sized chunks
  11. Closed lid Add the diced chicken to the mixing bowl and stir well with the spatula
  12. Closed lid Turn speed selector to speed 1 with temp of 100oC for 30 minutes
  13. Closed lidAdd the 200g of mango chutney, 225g tomato ketchup, 0.5 tsp of mint, squeeze the juice from 1 whole lemon and stir well with the spatula
  14. Turn speed selector to speed 1 with temp of 80oC for 5 minutes
  15. Turn speed selector to speed 1 with temp of 40oC for 5 minutes - now pour and mix the single cream slowly and allow it to mix well.
  16. Start to prepare the rice or whatever you wish to have with the Chicken Chasni
  17. Turn speed selector to speed 1 with temp of 80oC for 5 minutes
